Amusing anecdote related to UI on MacOS.

I started using a macbook a week ago. When I hit the power button I get a pop-up asking about sleep/shutdown/whatever. I wanted to go directly to sleep mode without clicking the window. I googled and found option+command+eject. WTF? How am I supposed to figure that out? But oh well. Then I realized that closing the lid does the same thing.

You only need one primary gesture for sleep mode in the UI. The gesture is close-the-lid. The Apple way is to train your users to use the interface as it was designed.

Why spend a jillion dollars designing the perfect UI, and then provide 3 different ways to do each action? It would be like sabotaging your UI design team.

So far so good.
